Overview

Overview

Lead the development of the next-generation ion trap quantum computers and foundational technologies that will enable truly scalable and practical quantum computing. We are looking for AMO experimentalists with skills in operating lasers, optics, UHV systems and electronics, and with knowledge in cavity QED and quantum optics theory. In addition, researchers with expertise in microfabrication, integrated photonics and MEMS are highly valued.

Detail

Engage in the research and development of quantum hardware

Design experimental setups and undertake simulations

Build up the experimental setup and evaluate its operation

Data acquisition and analysis

Contribute to publications, conference presentations and intellectual property development

Research Themes

Cavity QED experiments directly connected to scalable ion-trap quantum computing.

Ion trapping: design, operation, and characterization of trapped-ion systems.

Development and integration of micro-optics and MEMS for quantum experiments.

Position Highlights

Close collaboration with theorists and engineers to translate concepts into working hardware and measurements.

Opportunity to play a central role in the real-world deployment of ion-trap quantum computers, working at the interface of cutting-edge research and system engineering.

Early-stage growth phase (second year since founding), offering broad responsibility, technical ownership, and meaningful influence over design choices and strategy.

English-speaking, international environment, collaborating closely with world-class researchers and engineers across theory, experiment, hardware, and software.

Strong emphasis on tight feedback loops between theory, experiment, hardware, and control software.

Required Skills

  • PhD (or expected completion) in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or a related field
  • Business-level English proficiency or higher (English is used for day-to-day work communication)
  • Foundational knowledge of quantum physics or quantum optics
  • Basic understanding of quantum computing principles
  • Proficiency in data analysis and programming using Python, MATLAB, or equivalent tools
  • <Experience in at least one of the following>
  • ・Hands-on experience in experimental research especially in the fields of lasers operations and and optics, cavity QED theory and experiments, UHV system, and electronics controls.
  • ・Microfabrication research in MEMs design and fabrication.

Preferred Skills

  • AMO experiment experience
  • Experience conducting experiments with quantum hardware
  • Track record of academic publications and leading research projects
  • Exposure to interdisciplinary collaboration and participation in international conferences
