Database Administrator (DBA)

We are working to provide the best financial services to users in Japan. We empower PayPay Card products by realizing efficient, stable and optimized storage services. PayPay Card is looking for Database Administrators/Engineers who specialize in databases at scale on mission critical systems.

Main Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day database operations including monitoring, configuration, upgrades, scaling, backups, and data migrations.

Continuously improve database operations through automation, tooling, and process optimization.

Manage backups, replication, failover, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies to ensure business continuity.

Implement and maintain database security policies, including access control and auditing.

Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory standards (e.g., PCI DSS).

Troubleshoot and resolve performance and stability issues in production environments.

Participate in on-call rotation and incident response using tools like PagerDuty to support 24/7 availability of critical systems.

Collaborate with engineering teams to design scalable data models and optimize query performance.

Research, test, and adopt emerging technologies in the database and cloud ecosystem to enhance platform capabilities.

Create and maintain documentation for architecture, standard procedures, and operational best practices to support effective knowledge sharing and decision-making.

Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of database infrastructure.
